Overview: Well, another blurb from my stash of guides i've
made.. this guide will explain how to control your winamp using your
PSP + Wipeout Pure webbrowser and Browseamp plugin.
thanks liquidice for the basis of this guide..
my main zip file w/moops portal template and browseamp template
Required Software/Setup:
-PSP :p
-Wipeout Pure
-Moops dns/webserver running (for psp portal)
-winamp and browseamp plugin
-basic html, computer know-how
-wireless network/router
Step 1. Setup Moops and Wipeout Pure browser
moops/browser requirements:
Sony PSP
Wipeout Pure video game
Wireless/Wifi network
MooPS DNS Server/Spoofer (
download here )
a. Download and Install MooPS Mini DNS Server. This will let you
run a mini DNS Server to spoof your PSP and the wipeout browser.
b. Configure MooPS for your network.
First, when you open up MooPS, go to Options > Server Settings. An
options screen will popup like so (see below).

Here's what you need to configure (use the colors in the pic for
reference).
Yellow: This is the computer's IP
Address that MooPS is running on. (advanced users: If you want
to just setup a local network portal type page, you would want to
change the IP Address: (Any) to the IP Address of hosting the portal
(but most of you will just want to leave it set to (Any) )
Red: This is the IP of your
router/hub. Usually, 192.168.0.1 (mine is actually
192.168.10.1). or do a google on your router type to find it out. (ie
the page you access to make changes to your router/hub)
Green: Hostname: name of the
computer you have Moops on (in My Computer > Properties > Computer
Name. IP Address: IP of the PC running Moops and in turn the
webserver. Port: 80 is the default http port, its not
configurable at the moment it seems. Root Directory: Location
of the folder where webpages are, default is set to Moops PSP Folder
at (C:\Program Files\MooPS\ROOT) , i changed mine to be a subweb of
my webserver i already run.
c. Setup the PSP network settings to use MooPS and allow for your
own custom portal.
On your PSP:
- Go to Network Settings
- Then choose Infrastructure Mode.
- Now, create a -New Connection-
- Name your connection here. I have two seperate wifii
connections setup, one specifically for the wipout browser. Then
arrow right.
- Next, you can either scan for your wifi network's SSID or
you can enter it in manually, also if you use any encryption
such as WEP to choose that. Then arrow right
- Enter in your WEP Key if your wireless network uses it. Then
arrow right.
- Next, set the Address Settings to Custom.
- Just use Automatic for IP Address Setting.
- Next, choose Manual for your DNS Setting. This is where
MooPS comes into play!
Now on this screen, we need to setup the Primary DNS to be the
address of the computer that is running MooPS (the same IP as the
Redirect IP Address: in MooPS)
Then setup your Secondary DNS to be your ISP's/networks DNS address.
This way you can still browse real website with the browser and not
ALL requests are handled directly by MooPS. Then arrow right again.
.JPG)
-Next, is the proxy server, if you don't use one or know what it is,
just use Do Not Use.
-Now, finally the confirmation screen, just arrow right after you
verify it.
-And FINALLY, just click X to save your connection, it will then do
a test connection.
d. Reaping the rewards.
If you want to just see it up and running for the first time, just
use the default webserver Root Directory Moops. Start up MooPS
on your PC.
Load up Wipeout Pure on your PSP. Go into the Downloads section.
Then connect to your network using the custom profile we setup
above. Once you connect, you should be brought to a super basic
webpage by Moops on your PSP. Click the google link by highlighting
it and pushing X. Text input is done via the default keyboard.
On your PC, you'll see something like this in MooPS.

Here's zip of my html portal with site to wired, cnn, espn, google,
mapqwest, gizmodo, mobiledeviant.com, and more. All are links to
mobile versions of the sites so they are wipeout/psp friendly! Use
this if you don't want to do the winamp control or just want to test
out the browser.

Step 2. Download and install Browseamp
download and install browseamp plugin at http://www.browseamp.com
Step 3. Configure Browseamp Plugin and copy
seamonkey420s browseamp template
open up the mobile_seamonkey420.zip and extract it to the browseamp
plugin folder (be sure to Keep Folder Names), ie c:\program files\winamp\plugins\browseamp...

open up winamp and configure browseamp plugin
Go to Option > Preferences
Then Plugins > General Purpose > Browseamp
Setup your port to run the webserver on. In my example i have setup
port 9990. I would recommend using a higher non-used port.. also,
you can start and stop the server here and enable logging or not..
you have to stop the server to make changes to the port..

Next, click the music folder tab. This is where you setup where your
music files are saved. Browseamp does see subfolders.

Finally, setup the default skin to my psp-friendly template

Step 4. Setting up Moops to read portal from memory stick
open up the my portal zip file. Create the folder: portalpage, on in
this folder on your memory stick, PSP\GAME.
Copy all of the files EXCEPT the index.html, mobile_seamonkey420.zip
files, to this folder on your memory stick PSP\GAME\portalpage.
then copy the index.html to your moosp webserver folder.
what we are doing is setting up the portal page so that moops will
instantly redirect the wipeout browser to a portal page on your
psp's memory stick. Thus eliminating that annoying initial load
time! ;-)
Step 5. Edit the psp_memorystick_index.html on to point to
your browseamp server
finally, we will need to edit the psp_memorystick_index.html that we
copied to the memory stick so that the link for winamp points to the
browseamp server we will have running on your network.
just right click the file, then choose Open With > Notepad
the page will be opened by notepad, find this entry: http://browseampcomputerurl.com:port
and replace it with the computer's ip thats running browseamp (and
prob moops) and the port, ie http://192.168.0.10:9990.
then save the page.
Step 6. Enjoying your psp and winamp remote! Party time!
lastly, startup your MooPs server, open up winamp and make sure your
browseamp server/plugin is started and running.
Then fire up Wipeout Pure and do the browser thing and start having
some real control over your winamp.

Think parties? Shoutcast server? yea baby!
NOTES:
-one might be wondering why run both moops and the browseamp
program? don't the ips conflict?
~nope... we are defining different ports, so we can have both apps
run on the same computer.. however, one could set this up to have
moops run on one pc, and then browseamp on a different pc or
multiple pcs.. just make sure to setup links to each pc's browseamp
address: port..
-i've done everything but nothing happens.. why????
~check to see if maybe you need to setup port forwarding/open up the
ports we are using in your routers config screen. also, you might
have to configure the XP firewall to allow Winamp and Moops to use
those ports..
-as for finding the secondary dns, you can just go into your routers
configuration screen and use the dns server it lists...
-here's a page that explains ip addresses and dns servers
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin....ips/ipaddr.html
-here is a list of great web utilities to test one's connections..
http://www.dnsstuff.com/
-some more info on dsn servers and how they work (just for those
interested geeks)
http://pigtail.net/LRP/dns-system.html
-more questions, drop a post!
